Take a free placement test

Most new students take a free online placement test. After grading, we email you our class recommendation within a few days.

Tests are 10–15 questions, untimed, and require no tools or preparation. Offered fully online.

You may not need to test if you are a returning student, attended summer camps, or have recent competition results. Chess classes don't need testing.

Testing 2026–27

Placement testing

Our free online placement tests help us recommend the class that will be both comfortable and appropriately challenging. Results are emailed within a few days.

How it works

Request a placement test in Math or Computer Science by filling in the request form. You will receive a link to complete it online at your convenience. Most tests contain around 10 untimed questions and require no calculator or preparation.

When a test is requested, we base our choice of test on the student's current grade level. If needed, we might send you an additional test after grading.

All tests are offered fully online. No in-person testing required.

What we look for

Our placement tests measure problem-solving ability, mathematical readiness, and computational thinking rather than memorized knowledge. Our goal is to recommend the class that provides the right balance of confidence and challenge.

There is no passing or failing. The purpose of the test is simply to find the best starting point.

Who may skip the test

  • Returning students continuing with the same learning path.
  • Graduates of our summer programs. Ask your teacher for a recommendation.
  • Students with high scores in Math Competitions — Noetic, Math Kangaroo, Math Is Cool, AMC 8/10, MathCounts, or similar.

Important to Know

Our policies

Please review these important policies before enrolling. They help ensure a smooth experience for all students and families.

Attendance & absences

Regular attendance helps students get the most out of the program and keeps them connected with the class.

If your child must miss a class, please let the teacher know by email. Whenever possible, we'll arrange for your student to attend another section of the same class.

Student records

Please keep your family's contact and emergency contact information up to date. If your phone number, email address, or emergency contacts change, let us know as soon as possible.

Health & restricted items

Please do not send your child to class if they are feeling ill or have symptoms of a contagious illness.

In the event of a serious injury or medical emergency, we may call 911 and will immediately contact the student's parents or emergency contacts.

To help keep all students safe, please do not bring snacks or other foods containing peanuts.

Tuition payments

Tuition is billed by trimester: Fall, Winter, and Spring, 10 classes each. The registration and payment are completed at the beginning of each trimester. We accept checks, cash, Zelle, or PayPal/Credit cards.

Students joining after the trimester begins pay prorated tuition based on the remaining classes. We'll let you know the exact tuition amount before you enroll.

Tuition refunds & cancellations

A pro-rated refund for missed classes is given when a parent informs the teacher by email in advance, in the following cases:

Long vacation: At least two missed classes in a row

Long illness: At least two missed classes in a row

Class canceled: Canceled by Prime Factor

Student drops the class: Student decides not to continue
